Documentation Management is a competitive advantage

If a company can record what it knows and then quickly and easily find it then this a competitive advantage.

In my experience it can take companies days, weeks or months to provide information that is core to their business as they do not have an effective and efficient way of storing or managing their documentation.

In these cases it is because the employees feel that their knowledge is the only reason why they still have a job and there is no culture of rewarding or supporting employees from documenting and sharing knowledge.

Therefore a cultural change is needed to support and reward employees who document their knowledge and then put in place a system to easily retrieve and manage these documents.
