
When 3rd party providers are contracted the client seems to sometimes forget that they are working with fellow humans. This forgetfulness can manifest itself in a lack of respect and rudeness to the 3rd party provider which makes the whole working relationship a horrid experience for all involved.
Clients and their representatives forget that they represent their company. So, if they annoy 3rd party providers, they are harming their reputation, and this could cost them future business and future employees. Everyone talks to everyone so if a company gets a reputation for treating 3rd party providers badly or even their own employees badly then who will want to work for them.
I’ve heard of people not wanting to work for a specific company due to their reputation with 3rd party providers. This person went to work for another company and made them 10 million euros a year. So, a company lost out of 10 million euros a year as their representatives created a reputation that was not attractive to certain future employees.
In summary, we are all trying to earn a living so to support our lives outside of work. Let’s try and make the hours spent working together as least bad as we can make them.
