Today is the 29 February 2020, better known as “leap day” or “leap year day”. We only get to experience the 29 February every 4 years.

The next time we will have one is 2024.

So please take today as a gift and use it to appreciate what you have now and to think about where you want to be, who you want to be with and the kind of person you want to be.

As we are talking about the gift of 29 February, I also would like you to think of a project manager as a gift to you and the achievement of your organisation’s goals. The project manager is there to help and guide a team or organisation forward towards a defined goal (new IT systems, outsourcing of processes, new road, new office building etc).

The project manager is a gift as without someone to define the activities that must be done and when they must be done and by whom must do them, the defined goal will never be achieved.

It is common that the project manager is blamed for any mistake or if the go live is missed and then their contribution is ignored when the goal is achieved. It is rare to see someone enter the world of project management for personal glory as it can be a thankless task. Project Managers should be respected and appreciated they are doing the best they can in a very challenging situation.
