One Project Manager to manage them all

It is common for organisations to have one Project Manager per product implementation. As each project manager is experienced on one product and one product implementation approach.

If a client has a contract with a multinational provider for solutions and products in a country then they may have to work with 1 PM for each product / service and if the client has 5 products / services they may end up working with 5 PMs and 5 project teams in one country. As while the client believes they have one provider to implement a holistic solution in a country they have in fact 5 solutions and 5 separate projects all with their own PM and project teams. Image if a client has 20 countries in the contract and 5 products in each country then they could end up working with 100 different project managers and 100 different project teams. This is confusing as it can make communication and understanding the end to end flow of data and responsibilities very confusing for the client as well as the provider.

Therefore, it is best for the client and the provider to have 1 PM per country that delivers all products / services for that one country. This will result in a better level of service for the client as they will have a true end to end experience and holistic approach from the provider.

The benefits to the provider are that this will result in faster implementation of the products as key dependencies and cross product risks and issues can be managed by 1 PM. Plus this will result in more efficient and effective resource management so the provider can implement more clients with the same number of resources.
