Have a dedicated and well-built team that stays in place for the duration of the project

In my experience if you have done something once then the next time I do it, I will do it a little bit better and faster.

For clients that have contracted products and services from an outsourcing provider it is best to keep the same people involved from the start to the end of the implementation. In outsourcing projects where a global service(s) (e.g. payroll, time and attendance, HR system of record) has been bought, team members will learn and improve with each project they complete.

Consequently, it is best to keep the same people in place for all projects in the contract. As this will allow the client’s team members to apply the knowledge and experience they have gained in the earlier projects to future projects. This benefits the client as it will result in projects being delivered faster and with less challenges than previous projects. As the client can perform their requirements gathering, test preparation and testing faster and in a more controlled way.

In my experience it is important for clients to take into account that their project team members, who are implementing the service / products, will struggle or be unable to do both the projects and their day job. Therefore, it is best practice for clients to ring fence team members and only have them working on the projects and nothing else. As this will enable projects to go live faster and with less problems.
