According to Daniel Pink we can make better decisions by finding out what other people decided to do in the same situation and what were the results.

This is the reasoning by why people look for a share restaurant reviews on Google Maps, Trip Adviser and Yelp. It is perfectly natural to look to others for a restaurant, hotel or bar recommendation.  Then in these sharing times it is easy to share a recommendation (good or bad). This build up a body of knowledge about all restaurants, hotels, bars etc so it is easy to decide on where to go and what to do in the evening!

How does this apply to project management?

If the organisation has a database of lessons learned, then the PM can use this as a basis to make better decisions. As there would be a clear record of the situation, actions taken and the results.

If clients can seek feedback from other clients about their projects and experiences with a provider, then they can base their decision to buy a product / service on someone else’s valuable insight.
